Innovation Management

The service society is challenging traditional industrial-age value chains and business models, and hence traditional approaches to innovation management. It is widely recognized today that, in order to gain a competitive advantage, businesses need to innovate constantly in their offerings in the market place, as well as in their competencies and business models. Therefore, the state-of-the-art conclusion within the field of innovation management is that businesses of the future are in need of new organizational forms and business models.

In the context of digital urban living, there are a number of important barriers to creating new business models and configurations across the traditional value chain. Specifically, the barriers are conceptual, organizational, and managerial. In order to succeed in the creation of the business models of the future, it is important to create concepts, a language, and a modelling methodology that is oriented towards the digital age rather than the industrial age.

The field of investigation contributes with the following research question: How can new theories and concepts, developed within innovation management, contribute to the development of successful and sustainable innovations within digital lifestyles?

Inquiries about the project can be directed to professor Anders Drejer.
